Abersoch is situated on the southern coast on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales and has become a very popular village seaside resort, internationally recognized sailing waters, pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. Abersoch, and much of the Llyn Peninsula, are designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Peninsula has dozens of spectacular sandy beaches of a quality more associated with Cornwall than the northern half of the UK. It is considered as having a micro-climate benefiting from the warmth of the Gulf Stream and seeing more days of sunshine than most areas.
Pwllheli is the unofficial capital of The Llyn Peninsula. It is a small but bustling town with a weekly market on Wednesday in Y Maes. Within Pwllheli, there are many shops, to suit everyones taste and selling most everything you may need. There are a number of designer boutiques, art and caft shops, offering artists materials as well as locally made pieces, (keep a lookout for regular art exhibitions), a wonderful bookshop, (owned and run by a very knowledgeable and obliging gentleman), cream-tea and coffee shops, antique shops, beauticians (which use all the latest equipment, products and techniques), high quality professional hairdressers, well known supermarkets, fishmongers and butchers offering the much renowned local surf and turf, delightful restaurants, bars and take-aways to suit everyone’s taste. Pwllheli Marina is one of the finest yachting venues in Western Britain. It has over 400 pontoon berths and excellent onshore facilities. In recent years the marina has played host to a number of British, European and World sailing championships, as well as local races and regattas organised by Pwllheli Sailing Club and the South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club
